  1. Easy Campfire Recipes: Lightly wrap the pizza just as you would your other campfire meals in foil EXCEPT you will be creating a loose tent around the pizza rather than a tight packet. Then, place on campfire grill grate above hot coals.
  2. Dutch Oven Camping Recipes: Make sure you have a large enough oven to accommodate the size of your pizza crust.
  3. Camp Stove Recipes: Prepare your Dutch oven dome and heat diffuser for convection type heating with your propane camp stove.
  4. Camp or RV Oven: Fully pre-heat the oven to avoid uneven heating and burning.

You are actually just heating this meal because the ingredients in this recipe are already cooked.

Camp Cooking Tip: Adding charred veggies provide tons of flavor when using prepared ingredients.

The best way to char the tomatoes for this recipe is to use a grilling skillet basket to keep them from falling through the grates.

I like using mine for shrimp, delicate fish and other veggies like asparagus and sliced onions … basically, any type of food item that has a tendency to get caught or fall between the grates of the grill are perfect for grilling in a basket.

Top And Serve

Combining prepared ingredients with fresh ones makes this Easy Chicken Alfredo Pizza Recipe fast and fabulous.

The burst of flavor that comes from using freshly grated Parmesan cheese is one of those “worth-the-effort” tricks in the camp kitchen and it is easy when you use a grater with a large, nonslip handle.

You know me, I like tools that havea hole for hanging and storage when not in use.

Fresh Herbs Make The Difference

Using a Fresh Herb Keeper is a great way to transport unprocessed fresh herbs to the campsite.

This one iseasy to top with water and fits conveniently in most RVrefrigerator door shelves or camp coolers.

Ingredients

  • 14 cherry tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pre-baked pizza crust
  • 1/4 cup prepared Alfredo sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pre-cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 1/3 cup chopped green onions
  • 10 fresh basil leaves torn or chopped

Instructions

  • Heat your propane portable grill, campfire, Dutch oven or other cooking device. *See note below.

  • In a small bowl, toss the tomatoes in the olive oil, salt and pepper.

  • Use a cast iron grill pan, grill grate or grilling basket to char the tomatoes over medium-high heat.

  • Build the pizza starting with the pizza crust and then adding the Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, chicken and charred tomatoes.

  • Place the pizza over your campfire, propane grill or in your cast iron Dutch oven for baking covered using medium heat. All of the ingredients are already cooked in this recipe so you are just toasting the crust, heating the ingredients and melting the cheese.

  • Remove the pizza from whichever heat source you are using and top with Parmesan cheese, green onions and fresh basil leaves. If you have a little of the seasoned olive oil leftover from tossing the tomatoes, drizzle it over the pizza too.

Notes

*NOTE: This recipe is so versatile because it can be cooked so many ways.

  • Campfire: Lightly wrap the pizza in foil and place on campfire grill grate above hot coals.
  • Dutch Oven With Charcoal: Make sure you have a large enough oven to accommodate the size of your pizza crust.
  • Dutch Oven With Propane Camp Stove: Prepare your Dutch oven dome and heat diffuser for convection type heating and make sure you have a large enough oven to accommodate the size of your pizza crust.
  • Camp or RV Oven: Fully pre-heat the oven to avoid uneven heating and burning.
